GASTPE RPCom gathers for general assembly

The GASTPE regional program committee (RPCom), which is composed of DepEd officials and FAPE regional program directors and coordinators, talked about further improving the implementation of the GASTPE program during the general assembly held last 12 July 2012 at the Bayview Park Hotel, Manila.

After the invocation led by Fr. Eduardo Ventic, regional program director in region 7, Undersecretary Francisco Varela gave the opening remarks wherein he emphasized the attainment of program objectives shared by the government and private sector as the primary concern in program implementation. Trissa Manalastas, executive assistant to the Undersecretary for Finance, and Gary de la Paz, FAPE investment director, introduced the participants from DepEd and FAPE, respectively. FAPE Executive Director Carolina Porio gave a report on the implementation in school year 2011-2012 and 2012-2013. She also reported the outcomes of the certification and in-service training programs.

The RPCom was also introduced to the Open High School Program (OHSP) online system. Dr. Lolita Andrada, director of the DepEd-Bureau of Secondary Education, explained the rationale of the program. Dr. Miguel Rapatan, consultant to FAPE’s training program, discussed the design of the online system.
